Easton Redding United Soccer Club Ken Harman Memorial Scholarship
The Ken Harman Memorial Scholarship is given annually to a senior boy and senior girl who have played youth soccer in the towns of Easton or Redding and have played on the Varsity at Joel Barlow High School (JBHS). The scholarship is given in memory of Ken Harman who had a pivotal role in the early years of development of youth soccer in Redding, giving of himself in service to the youth as a coach, manager and especially a mentor.
This annual award will provide a monetary scholarship of $500 to a deserving senior boy and girl who have exemplified qualities such as leadership, service to the community, academic achievement and have a desire to be a lifelong learner. It is not recognition of the “best” soccer player, or the longest varsity tenure, rather it is to recognize a model citizen who, at a young age, has achieved academic and athletic goals and has given of their time to help others. The award is given at the JBHS Awards Ceremony in Spring.
