Spring 2025 ERU Girls Travel Evaluations

Easton Redding United Girls Program Player Evaluations

Beginning in Winter 2025, Easton Redding United will implement player evaluations for the girls' side of the program. These evaluations are not used to determine acceptance into the club but are designed to create the best developmental environment for players.

Players are required to attend at least one evaluation session, though two are recommended:

Date: February 24, 2025
Time: U9 & U10: 5:30-6:45; U11 & U12: 6:45-8:00 PM
Location: JBHS Turf Field

Date: February 26, 2026
Time: U9 & U10: 5:30-6:45; U11 & U12: 6:45-8:00 PM

Registration:

Registering for evaluations does not represent a commitment to the program.
There is no fee to participate in the evaluation process.
Interested players will still need to accept/register and pay for the spring season.

The evaluations are designed to support:

Team Formation: Evaluations help us understand the number of interested players. They allow us to plan for the number of teams required and ensure players are placed in an environment aligned with their developmental needs.

Double Roster & Playing Up Decisions: Identifying players who may benefit from additional playing opportunities, either by double rostering or participating with an older age group.

Tournament Roster Adjustments: In the event a team cannot field enough players for a tournament, evaluations will determine which players are eligible to assist other teams.

Evaluation Guidelines and Outcomes
Evaluations are not publicly shared. They are used solely for the purposes listed above.
In a scenario where every age group has one team, evaluations will primarily serve as a tool to track individual and team development over time.
If player participation changes after evaluations, team assignments may be adjusted.

Roster Size Guidelines:

U9 & U10 (7v7): Minimum roster of 8 players, maximum roster of 12 players.
U11 & U12 (9v9): Minimum roster of 10 players, maximum roster of 16 players.
U13+ (11v11): Minimum roster of 12 players, maximum roster of 22 players.
If a team’s roster exceeds the maximum number of players but does not meet the minimum requirement for two teams, players above the maximum number will be offered practice player spots. Practice players will be allowed to train with the team but will not attend games unless:

We reach the minimum number of players to form a second team.
A roster spot becomes available in another age group, space permitting.

Evaluations will be conducted by the Director of Coaching and the coaching staff, focusing on the four key pillars of player development:

Technical: Ball control, dribbling, passing, and finishing skills.
Tactical: Decision-making, positioning, and understanding of the game, communication on the field.
Physical: Speed, strength, stamina, and overall athleticism.
Citizenship: Coachability, teamwork, flexibility

Our goal is to create a structured, supportive, and development-focused environment for all players while ensuring the long-term success of each team and individual athlete.

Registration Listing

2025 ERU Boys Travel Program - Spring

Registration Deadline:
  • March 3rd, 2025; a late fee will be charged thereafter

Season: approximately 10 weeks
  • Practices will begin week of March 24th for preseason training
  • Games begin April 6th, with games on 4/13, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 6/1, and 6/8.
  • Season ends June 8th with the weekend of June 14th/15th saved as a makeup date for cancelled games.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Field availability and conditions are very difficult in the Spring. Delays and changes to this schedule may occur.

Practices:
  • Two (2) practices per week for U9 - U12
  • Three (3) practices per week for U13 - U15

Games:
  • One (1) game per week (typically Sunday) versus another CJSA team

Tournament:
  • Newtown Soccer Club Memorial Day Tournament over Memorial Day Weekend

Registration Notes:
  • Register for the U-level corresponding with your player's birth year
  • Teams will be formed based on registrations as of March 3rd; U-levels may be merged to form a team
  • The ERU Boys Coaching Director and his coaching staff will determine final team placement across all age groups.
  • Players who were rostered on a 2024 Fall ERU team and are returning for the Spring 2025 Season will receive a $200 discount off the registration fee

Player Evaluations

  • All players born in 2017 and players who are new to the ERU Boys Travel program and are born in 2016 are required to attend a player evaluation on February 27th, 2025. This evaluation is in order to ensure appropriate team placement. The evaluations will be run by the ERU Boys Coaching Director (CD) using the boys coaching staff as evaluators. Final team placement will be determined by the CD.
  • Location: Samuel Staples Elementary School gym
  • Date/Time: February 27th, 2025 from 6:00-7:00 PM
  • Please wear indoor shoes (no outdoor cleats) and bring a water bottle.
  • If your child is unable to attend this evaluation session, please reach out to ERU Boys Coaching Director Paul Winstanley at [email protected] to attend an alternative winter training practice session.
