The team manager is critical to the success of an ERU team and to the overall experience of our players. Appointed by the ERU coaching staff, team managers serve in positions of great trust and are expected to be a representative of ERU to parents and players and to support ERU policies and procedures.
In general, the team manager is the hub of communication among parents, players, the coach and ERU. Key information regarding players’ participation in club activities is often disseminated to parents through team managers.

Maintain the team schedule on the StackTeam App by adding practices, game details and any other events, such as play off games, friendlies, or team gatherings.
Send weekly reminders in the StackTeam App Chat about the weekend schedule
Track player RSVPs for each match to ensure enough players will be present at the game and communicate numbers to the coach
Facilitate communication between the coach and team parents, including helping to reschedule any missed practices due to weather, etc.
Notify your coach, player families, and opponent manager (in a timely manner) if there are any field closures or game day changes.
Game Day
Referees
Present team roster to head referee prior to kick off at each match (home and away). Team must have current rosters approved by district listing all players, coaches, and managers. The referee will keep the roster. Only persons whose names appear on rosters are permitted on the players' side of the field; all others are considered spectators and are restricted to the opposite sideline. No one is allowed behind the goal lines.
Pay all three referees prior to all home games. Request the money from the Club Treasurer prior to the season. Referees must be paid cash. (Recommendation: create envelopes labeled with Center and Assistant Referee with the exact payments in them ahead of time.) The current payment schedule is on the ERU website under Referees.
- Scores - Report scores for home games on the CJSA SWD website and ensure accuracy of away game entries by opponents
- Assist in control of spectators - When in the opinion of the referee spectators become disruptive, the referee may suspend the match and request that the coach manage their fans/spectators. Coaches are duty-bound to assist in this process. If the referee is unsatisfied that calm is restored or believes that fair play is unlikely to resume, he/she may abandon the match and must file a report with the District. An investigation will follow and appropriate action will be taken. The manager should help prevent this from happening, if possible, by speaking to any disruptive fan/spectator and asking them to refrain from this behavior, especially if the referees are not adults.
Note: Team managers should refrain from coaching players, setting lineups, determining playing time or deciding any soccer matters. All games and practices are to be run by a member of the ERU coaching staff. At all times, team managers should support and uphold club policies.
